January 29 - Supporting Regulation During Separation: A Follow-up to John
Facilitator: Elizabeth Francis, MS, ECEd, IMH-E (IV)
In contrast to last year's "John", this video by the Robertsons shows us a child who is nurtured and supported while in substitute care. We will see how Thomas both uses and resists his caregiver's presence, and how she helps him to cope with his feelings.

February 26 - Supporting Self-Regulation Through Sensory Processing
Facilitator: Susan Haydon, MS
Self-regulation is different for each of us based on our unique ways of perceiving and responding to the world through our senses. Identifying challenges and providing intervention helps a child organize his inner world. A video will bring the issues to life, followed by presentation and discussion.

March 26 - Supporting Self-Regulation Through Nurturing Touch
Facilitator: Barbara Einsohn, M.S., CIMI, IMH-E (IV)
Touch is the first sense to develop in the womb and plays an often under-appreciated role in infant and early childhood development. Tied to all other body systems, early nurturing touch sets the course for self-regulation as we will see in the remarkable DVD by Karyn Purvis and David Cross that is part of this presentation.

April 30 - The READY Method
Facilitators: Margeret Tresch Owen, Ph.D., and Cynthia A. Frosch, Ph.D.
Sensitive parenting is one of the strongest and most consistent predictors of positive outcomes for young children. In this session, we will highlight the research on sensitive caregiving and provide an overview of The READY Method, a visual tool for promoting sensitive caregiving in families. The READY Method describtes 5 aspects of sensitive caregiving: Responding to child cues, Engaging and expressing emotion, Acknowledging the child's perspective, Supporting the child's development, and Yielding, rather than being intrusive. These components of sensitive caregiving will be illustrated with video clips of parents and their young children that show what sensitive caregiving looks like.

May 21 - Everything You Need To Know About Temperament
Facilitator: Betty Ann Ablon, MSSW, IMH-E (IV)
At this session, we will be watching a wonderful video narrated by Alicia Lieberman which will be followed by the opportunity to reflect on and explore our own temperaments, both as children and now as adults.
